Artist statement

Artist statement

In class our assignment was to make a logo. The logo should  represent a job that relates to Computer Arts. I chose a video game designer.

My logo shows how fun and exciting my games are. I have a wiggling octopus that is a fun vibrant red. To express his excitement, he has a large open mouth and bulging eyes. The font is bold and loud. It is on a dynamic angle that is coming out of his mouth as if he was yelling.

I chose to make my logo an octopus because there are many different areas that the player needs to focus on at one time. The octopus represents the ability to multitask with its eight arms.

The legs of the octopus are in a variety of poses. The negative spaces between the legs are all different. This shows that my games are unpredictable and unique. It also makes the design more interesting to the viewer.

Art CRITIQUE

In CyberARTS we were given an assignment to critique a painting in these three areas Imitationalism, Formalism and Emotionalism i chose a painting by Edvard Munch, called the scream

Imitationalism: This painting has life like qualities but in a very abstract way. Edvard Munch has very good accuracy because all his lines have a certain curve and length. The space was put together very well because your eye automatically goes to the middle. Which is were he has placed his main object of the painting. His concern for detail is very high because the whole painting is mode basically of line.

Formalism: The way this painting is organized is that there is a man standing in the middle so the message is very noticeable the use of line works very well to show horror and oh

Emotionalism: The feelings expressed in this painting are very mopey and loose. The mood of this painting is very mopey and dreary. You would feel the same way you would feel on a rainy day. Edvard is responding to a sunset that he found amazing.

Us students were assigned to use line to illustrate rhythm. I decided to use vertical directed lines like you would see on a radio. The beat of my lines are going from dark to light hard to soft. I have done other versions of this piece. I have put the lines upside down and the other version I split the piece in half to make the too parts opposite.
